First Visit
We can't wait to meet you!
We welcome new patients and recommend your child’s first dental well-care visit by age one. Our pediatric dental specialists have developed a preventative care program designed to help your child establish a healthy smile for a lifetime.
Your Child's First Visit
We want your child’s first visit to be a happy and educational experience. The objective of this first visit is to help parents understand what they can do to prevent cavities and get them started on proper oral care for their little ones. As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, we will discuss how to care for your infant’s or toddler’s mouth, including proper use of fluoride, oral habits (such as finger and thumb sucking), teething and milestones of development, as well as the link between diet and oral health, and evaluate their growth and orthodontic development.
Some ways to prepare for this visit begin at home:
- Read a story about the first dental visit to your child
- Role-play being the doctor and count your child’s teeth
- Always use positive language and refrain from sharing negative experiences
- You can even try using an electric toothbrush to simulate dental instrument
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask our friendly staff. They are well informed and will be happy to assist you.
Baby's First Teeth
As soon as your baby's first tooth appears, schedule a first dental visit. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should visit the pediatric dentist before their first birthday. Baby teeth are more porous and susceptible to decay than adult teeth, so early intervention is critical to help ensure those tiny teeth stay healthy.
